What is Cancer ?  


Cancer is a term used for a large group of diseases caused when abnormal cells in our body divide rapidly, and spread to other healthy tissue and organs. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world.

How Cancer Grows ?  


In a healthy body,there are trillions of cells and they are like building blocks of our body. Our body needs them to function daily tasks. All healthy cells have a specific life cycle and life time, It depends upon the type of cell what will be its way of Dying or reproducing. Our body overcome damages because new cells take the place of old or damaged cells as they die. Whe n a person suffers from a disease like Cancer, It disrupts this process and leads to abnormal growth in cells also known as Tumor. It’s caused by changes or mutations in DNA.

What are The Five Types of Cancer ?


There are more than 40 types of cancer discovered till date. Almost each organ of our body can have a different type of cancer . We will be discussing about some of the famous and most widely spread types of Cancer. So let’s begin the list.

Cancers are mostly named for the origin of their area in which they begin and the name of cell they are made of, even if they spread to other parts of the body the name still doesn’t change. For example, cancer that has origin in the lungs and after some time it spreads to the liver is still called lung cancer. There are also several clinical terms used for certain general types of cancer:


  • Carcinoma is a term used for cancer that starts in the skin or the tissues that line other organs after some time.  
  • Sarcoma is a term used for cancer of connective tissues such as bones, muscles, cartilage, and blood vessels.  
  • Leukemia is a term used for cancer of the bone marrow, which targets blood cells.  
  • Lymphoma and myeloma are terms used for cancers of the immune system and it defeat our immunity system of the body.  


1. Bone Cancer   


There are many symptoms which shows bone cancer but the most common is extreme pain in bones. Although the disease may occur in any bone in the body but   it is found that most often it develops in the long bones of the arms and legs.
Arthritis, osteoporosis or an injury are one of the many bone cancer symptoms. If you’re experiencing one or more of these symptoms regularly, then you must discuss them with your doctor in order to identify the cause and receive proper treatment.

This is a treatable cancer and can be treated in many ways like :

b. Surgery  
c. Chemotherapy  
d. Radiation therapy  
e. Targeted therapy

2. Brain Cancer  


The origin of Primary brain tumors is in the brain and occur due to the result of abnormal changes in brain cells, also known as mutations. As the cells mutate, they start growing and multiplying uncontrollably, forming a mass, or tumor. Cancers which can spread to the brain from other locations in the body are known as brain metastases. Brain metastases can be of two types namely  single tumor or multiple tumors.

Although its a very difficult situation but still it’s curable if detected in early stages. Some of the treatment options are:

3. Breast Cancer  


After skin cancer, breast cancer is the second most commonly affecting cancer among women all over the world, it affects one in eight women who live to the age of 80. The disease start building when breast cells get affected and start multiplying uncontrollably, forming a tumor. If untreated, these cancerous cells may spread to different parts of the body. Also, women who have a family history of this disease, or who are obese or women with dense breasts have a higher risk of the disease.

Symptoms of Breast Cancer include a lump, skin changes, nipple discharge and pain.

It’s also a curable disease if detected in early stage. Following are some of the treatment options for Breast Cancer:

4. Liver Cancer  


Liver cancer is ranked 13th most common cancer in the United States and 15th most common in whole world. There are more than 30,000 new cases of Liver Cancer diagnosed each year. The liver is a critical organ of the body and one cannot live without it. It helps our body to filter impurities and produces bile juice, which helps the body digest food and process fats. Damage to the liver from illness or disease increase the risk of liver cancer and are some of the symptoms for same.

Treatment options available for Liver Cancer are:

5. Lung Cancer  


As we all know that Lungs are one of the most sensitive organs of our body, as it is responsible for one of the most important factors of living i.e Breathing. So it makes this cancer a very dangerous one. The main causes of this type of Cancer is Smoking, unclear breathing, pollution, working in mines etc. 

There are Various approaches which are used to treat lung cancer. It depends on a number of factors which ones are appropriate for you, including the type of lung cancer. Small cell lung cancers are typically treated with radiation and chemotherapy.
